Lodge "Zu den 3 Rosen im Walde" Sorau
In 2017, a book from the library of the Masonic Lodge “Zu den 3 Rosen im Walde” could be returned.
The St. John’s Lodge “Zu den 3 Rosen im Walde” was founded in Sorau in 1820 and operated there until its forced dissolution in 1935. It was not re-established after 1945, which is why the restitution was made to the mother lodge, the Große Nationale Mutterloge zu den drei Weltkugeln.
The book came from a depot of the Reich Security Main Office (Reichssicherheitshauptamt, RSHA) at Eisenacher Str. 11–13 in Berlin Schöneberg. The RSHA had gathered looted books from all over Europe at this location. After the end of the war in 1945, parts of these books were distributed by the Salvage Office (Bergungsstelle) to various libraries in Berlin.
