Workers' Welfare Association
In 2011, a book from the library of the Zentralstelle für Arbeiterwohlfahrtseinrichtungen (Central Office for Workers' Welfare Organisations) was restituted to the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
Founded in 1891, the Central Office for Workers‘ Welfare Organisations was a predecessor of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO or Workers’ Welfare Association), which was founded in 1919 at the instigation of Marie Juchacz. The AWO was dissolved and banned after 1933 following unsuccessful attempts of Gleichschaltung.
The book was acquired from the Bergungsstelle (Salvage Office), specifically order 153 (library of the Seminary of Oriental Languages).
