Stamp and number of the Dietz Archives

 

Since 2011, five books from the J.H.W. Dietz Nachf. Verlag library and archive could be returned to the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.

The publishing house J.H.W. Dietz Nachfolger was a 100% subsidiary of the Konzentration AG of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD). The publishing house J.H.W. Dietz Nachf. It was deleted from the commercial register in 1934 and its assets confiscated.

Some of the books are from a depot of the Reich Main Security Office (Reichssicherheitshauptamt - RSHA) at Eisenacher Str. 11-13 in Berlin Schöneberg. The RSHA had collected looted books from all over Europe there. Some of these books were distributed to libraries in Berlin by the Salvaging Office ("Bergungsstelle") after the end of World War II in 1945. Further volumes contain, similar to volumes from the libraries of the Vorwärts traces and marks of the Institute for Political Education ("Institut für Politische Pädagogik").
