Max Neumann, born on 08 June 1885 in Königsberg, died on 28 March 1973 in Hamburg, was a painter, graphic artist and until 1933 a member of the Berlin Secession. His art was ostracized by the Nazis as "degenerate".

No conclusions could be drawn about the accession of the volume; it was part of unprocessed stock and does not contain any indications of the supplier or intermediate owners.
