Lodge "Minerva zu den Drei Palmen" Leipzig

Label and stamp of the Lodge Minerva zu den drei Palmen

Since 2013, 19 manuscripts could be returned to the Masonic Lodge “Minerva zu den drei Palmen in Leipzig, No. 7".

Founded in Leipzig in 1741, the lodge was subjected to repression in Nazi Germany from 1933 onwards and was finally dissolved in 1935. In 1936, the lodge library, comprising over 10,000 volumes, was among the assets expropriated and was transferred, at least in part, to a depot of the Reich Security Main Office (Reichssicherheitshauptamt, RSHA) in Berlin.

At least one of the returned musical manuscripts was acquired by the Berlin City Library (Berliner Stadtbibliothek, BStB) after the end of the war via Salvage Office (Bergungsstelle), order No. 15, the aforementioned RSHA depot. The other manuscripts bear no provenance marks from intermediate owners.
