Lodge "Minerva Rhenana" Cologne

Stamp: "MIN: RHEN: KÖLN * BIBLIOTHEK *"

Since 2012, two books from the library of the Masonic Lodge Minerva Rhenana in Cologne could be returned to its legal successor, the Masonic Lodge Zum Ewigen Dom.

In 1852, the St. John’s Lodge Minerva zum vaterländischen Verein and the Lodge Rhenana zur Humanität merged in Cologne. However, it was dissolved and expropriated by the Nazis in 1935. In 1946, former members of the lodge, together with other Freemasons from Cologne, founded the Lodge Zum Ewigen Dom.

Presumably, like numerous other volumes from Masonic libraries, the books entered the collection of the Berlin City Library (Berliner Stadtbibliothek, BStB) immediately after the end of the war in 1945/46 via an allocation from the Salvage Office (Bergungsstelle).
