Lodge "Friedrich Wilhelm zum Eisernen Kreuz" Bonn

In 2017, a book from the library of the St. John's lodge Friedrich Wilhelm zum Eisernen Kreuz in Bonn could be returned.

The St. John's lodge Friedrich Wilhelm zum Eisernen Kreuz was founded in Bonn in 1857. The lodge was dissolved and expropriated by the Nazis in 1935. It was re-established in 1952 as the ‘Fünf Punkte’ lodge and has been known again as Friedrich Wilhelm zum Eisernen Kreuz since 2008.

The book was discovered in unprocessed storage holdings at the Berlin City Library (Berliner Stadtbibliothek, BStB), had never been added to the library's inventory, and therefore has no accession number, library stamp, etc. Presumably, like numerous other copies from the libraries of masonic lodges, the book became part of the BStB's collection immediately after the end of the war in 1945/46 through an allocation by the salvage office for academic libraries.
