In 2018, six books from the library of the Latvijas Sūtnieciba Vācijā (Latvian Embassy, German Reich) were returned to the Embassy of the Latvian Republic.

In this case we are not dealing with Nazi loot, but plunder. Restitution was carried out via the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany ("Auswärtiges Amt").

The books were obtained by the Berlin City Library after the end of the war via the Salvaging Office ("Bergungsstelle"), recovery mission No. 87 - Library of Dr. Runte. Ludwig Runte (1896-1958) was a German politician of the Nazi Party. From 1941 Runte held leading positions in the Reich Ministry for the Occupied Eastern Territories ("Reichsministerium für die Besetzten Ostgebiete") and was one of Alfred Rosenberg's most important staff members.
