Jüdisch-akademischer Philosophenverein Wien (Jewish Academic Philosophical Society of Vienna)

Stamp of the library of the Jüdisch-akademischer Philosophenverein Wien

In 2015, a book from the library of the Jüdisch-akademischer Philosophenverein Wien (Jewish Academic Philosophical Society of Vienna) was returned to its legal successor, the Jewish Community of Vienna

The association had been founded in Vienna in 1909 but was forcibly dissolved in 1938 by the Stillhaltekommissar Wien (Vienna Liquidation Commissar), and its assets, including the library, were confiscated.

It has not yet been conclusively established how the looted book came to be in Berlin and how it was added to the ZLB’s collection.
