Jewish Community of Dresden - Wünsche-Library

Shelf mark and cancelled stamp of the Wünsche Library, Jewish Community of Dresden, Zeughausstraße 2

Since 2012, two books from the library of the Jewish Community of Dresden have been returned to the Community.

The volumes bear the stamp of the Wünsche Library – for the history of this library, see the paper by Jörn Kreuzer linked below.

One of the books found its way into the collection of the Berlin City Library (Berliner Stadtbibliothek, BStB) after the end of the war via the Salvage Office (Bergungsstelle), No. 15, a depot of the Reich Security Main Office (Reichssicherheitshauptamt, RSHA). Another book was found in the collection of the Berlin Senate Library (Senatsbibliothek zu Berlin), which is today part of the Berlin Central and Regional Library (Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin). The date and route of its acquisition are not yet known.
