In 2013, a book from the library of the Israelitischer Humanitäts-Verein Unabhängiger Orden Bne Briss (U.O.B.B.), Vienna, was restituted to the Jewish Community of Vienna.
The library of the U.O.B.B. Vienna had been confiscated in 1937 and was eventually taken to Berlin. The collection was to be incorporated into the “Jewish Library” of the “Enemy Library” of the Reich Security Main Office (Reichssicherheitshauptamt, RSHA).
After the end of the war, the returned book became part of the collection of the Berlin City Library (Berliner Stadtbibliothek) via salvage office site no. 15, a lodge that had been misused as a book depository by the RSHA for the construction of the“Enemy Library”.
