Austrian Theosophical Society – Adyar
In 2015, four books from the library of the Austrian Theosophical Society - Adyar could be returned.
The international theosophical organization Adyar was founded in New York in 1875 and was soon active in Austria, especially in Vienna. With the so-called Anschluss, the society was banned.
The books are recorded in the gift accession journals of the Berlin City Library of 1946 and 1947. In each case, the salvage site Nr. 161 (Marinebunker Hohenzollerndamm) is indicated as the supplier. It can be assumed that they were previously part of the so-called enemies-library of the Reich Main Security Office.
