Otto Baumgarten

Otto Baumgarten was born on 27 August 1909 in Bílsko near Olomouc. His parents were Jindřich Baumgarten (* 13 September 1880 in Kroměříž) and Kornelie "Nelly" Baumgarten née Müller (* 14 April 1884 in Hulín). He had a sister, Margareta/Markéta Baumgartenová (* 22 October 1910, also in Bílsko). He was married to Helena Sabudko, born on 10 November 1910 in Prague. Markéta was married to Arnošt Lorenz (* 21 October 1914).

The Baumgarten family was persecuted as Jewish. Jindřich and Kornelie Baumgarten were murdered in Auschwitz in 1944, Otto Baumgarten in Mauthausen in 1945. Markéta Lorenz was already murdered in Prague in 1942, her husband Arnošt in Theresienstadt in 1944.
