Georg Arnheim
Georg Arnheim was born in Berlin on March 21, 1872. He was the youngest child of Gustav Joseph Arnheim (1836-1906), a merchant from Wörlitz, and Henriette Arnheim, née Arndt (1848-1937), a native of Freienwalde. His two siblings were Rosalie, born on December 17, 1869 in Berlin, and Leopold Alfred, born on November 26, 1870, also in Berlin.
Georg Arnheim worked as a lawyer and notary in Berlin. In 1940 he married Ruth Rosalie Amalie Lehmann, born on October 4, 1894 in Hamburg. As far as is known, the couple had no children.
Georg and Ruth Arnheim were persecuted as Jewish in Nazi Germany. Together with Ruth's mother Rosa Lehmann, they were deported from Berlin to the Riga Ghetto in 1942 and murdered there.
Georg's single brother, the doctor of medicine Alfred Arnheim, was deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto on October 3, 1942 and murdered there on December 29 of the same year.
Georg's sister Rosalie had married Nathan Baer, a merchant from Landeck (Silesia), in 1894. The couple had a daughter, Charlotte Fanny Baer, who was born in Berlin on January 4, 1895. Nathan Baer was deported in 1941 and shot in the Rumbula massacre on November 30, 1941. Rosalie Baer, née Arnheim, was deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto on October 3, 1942 and murdered there in 1944.
In 1917, Charlotte Fanny Baer married the dentist Hermann Pauson, himself born in Berlin in 1885. The couple had a daughter, Eva Henriette, who was born in Berlin on August 18, 1918. Hermann Pauson died in Berlin in 1938 at the age of 52. Charlotte Fanny Pauson, née Baer, was deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto together with her mother on October 3, 1942. On January 23, 1943, she was deported from there to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp and murdered. Her date of death is not known.
Eva Henriette Pauson was a dental nurse in Berlin. She was able to escape from Germany to Great Britain in 1939 and thus survived the Shoah. In January 1943, she married the dental technician Helmut Punitzer, who was also from Berlin. Their son Vernon Punitzer was born in September 1943. The family emigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled in Hackensack, New Jersey.
