Elli Fliess
Elli Charlotte Fliess was born on 5 February 1889 in Berlin. Her parents were Ludwig Fliess, a merchant born on 27 March 1848 in Groß Salze (now Wieliczka), Galicia, and Nadeja Fliess, née Flatow, who was born on 6 May 1866 in Berlin. Elli Fliess graduated from the Elisabeth School for Female Teachers in Berlin and became a teacher. Ludwig Fliess died in Berlin in 1901. Nadeja and Elli Fliess later lived together at Machnower Straße 79 in Berlin-Zehlendorf.
Nadeja and Elli Fliess were persecuted as Jewish in Nazi Germany. In 1939, both were forced to move into a compulsory apartment at Niebuhrstraße 3 in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Nadeja Fliess died on 29 April 1941 in Berlin. Elli Fliess was deported from Berlin to Riga on 13 January 1942 and murdered. The exact date of her death is unknown.
